Limited or no internet connection status when using VPN in Windows 10? - No, You are not alone says Microsoft !

When you turn on your device to work from home, and connected to your VPN network then you might be greeted by your windows 10 with Limited or no internet connection symbol on the network icon. Don't panic.! at that time and think, you are facing this issue alone, because this is a Known.
issue.

What is the issue ?

As the recent update, all the device which installed the Cumulative update KB4535996 released by Feb 27 are affected by this issue.

So, what are the symptoms that you are affected by this Bug😃?

With the above one being the primary one, there are couple of other things that will confirm you are affected by this bug.

Here, is What Microsoft says..

Devices using a manual or auto-configured proxy, especially with a virtual private network (VPN), might show limited or no internet connection status in the Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI) in the notification area.  This might happen when connected or disconnected to a VPN or after changing state between the two. Devices with this issue, might also have issues reaching the internet using applications that use WinHTTP or WinInet. Examples of apps that might be affected on devices in this state are as follows but not limited to Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, Office365, Outlook, Internet Explorer 11, and some version of Microsoft Edge.

So, What can i do to fix limited or no internet connection when using VPN?

Even though Microsoft is working on a fix, i guess you don't need to wait till the fix is being rolled out (Because i know what will happen when you didn't work from Home, when you are asked to do ).  Simple, Just restart your PC. Yes, a simple restart will fix your problem.

I'm facing this issue again and again, everytime when i connect my PC to VPN network icon in the Notification area shows Limited or No internet connection what to do, any permanent Fix, available?

As said earlier, Microsoft is Working on a fix, but if its ok for you, then you can uninstall the problematic update that was installed on your PC.

Disable Media Keys in chromium based Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 [How to guide]

How to disable or block media keys in Microsoft Edge browser ? or how to stop Chromium based Microsoft Edge from accessing hardware keys ? this was one of the question that me and one of my friend had when we heard that upcoming Chromium based Microsoft Edge will also use Media Key functionality.

Confused what it was? let me clarify what Media key is..

If you are using the latest version of Chrome or Chromium based browser you might have noticed that whenever you press Media control keys on your keyboard chrome will start reacting to it.. For example: if you press forward button or Skip button on your keyboard when an Youtube video is playing, chrome will either forward the video or will skip and will play the next video, based on the type of key you press.

Though this Media key controlling feature is useful, many users started complaining that, whenever chrome is active they are unable to use the media key feature on other apps.  Lets take the audio app as an example, when chrome is active, you will not be able to use the forward button or stop button, as chromium based browser will take complete control of it, you might sometime need to force close the chromium based browser to use such apps, which might cause some irritation and looking for alternatives.

So, here is how it is..

How to disable hardware media keys on Microsoft Edge..

The solution is pretty much simple, since this Microsoft Edge is also powered by Chromium, you can follow the same process followed for chrome here..

1) Open Edge browser.

2) Type edge://flags/#hardware-media-key-handling on the address bar (For chrome, replace edge with Chrome, for example: chrome://flags...)

Disable Media Keys in chromium based Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 [How to guide]

3) You will see Hardware media key handling text being highlighted and next to the text, on the right side some option like Default, click that and select Disabled.

That's it, restart browser and enjoy.

What needs your attention "This PC Can't be upgraded to Windows 10" error message while upgrading to Windows 10 May 2019 update [Fix]

This pc can't be upgraded to windows 10, this will be the error message you are gonna get while installing latest windows 10 may 2019 update. With the final build already on release preview wing for insiders,  Today, Microsoft announced that the users of windows 10 while upgrading to upcoming Windows 10 May update will see the above error message with text "Your PC has hardware that isn't ready for this version of Windows 10. No action is needed. Windows Update will offer this version of Windows 10 automatically once the issue has been resolved" (Ref, below image).

You might have high end specs that can run many OS simultaneously, but you will still see the error message because of an simple issue.

So, what is the fix/ solution?

Simple, just remove the plugged in external storage, and restart your update, it will now work without any hassles. for example: if you had plugged in your USB drive or any device on usb port, then remove it, and try again, that's it..

Here is what Microsoft says about the cause,

Inappropriate drive reassignment can occur on eligible computers that have an external USB device or SD memory card attached during the installation of the May 2019 update. For this reason, these computers are currently blocked from receiving the May 2019 Update. This generates the error message..

Example: An upgrade to the May 2019 Update is tried on a computer that has the October 2018 update installed and also has a thumb drive inserted into a USB port. Before the upgrade, the device would have been mounted in the system as drive G based on the existing drive configuration. However, after the upgrade, the device is reassigned a different drive letter. For example, the drive is reassigned as drive H.

Note The drive reassignment is not limited to removable drives. Internal hard drives can also be affected.

So, will there be any official fix?

Microsoft says, the issue will be resolved in future service updates, and the issue will be fixed for insiders in the windows insider build 18877. Until then, follow the above fix.

No, its because of   data corruption error from the Microsoft site, which was later rectified and clarified by Microsoft.

The Windows Update service was impacted by a data corruption issue in an external DNS service provider global outage on January 29, 2019. The issue was resolved on the same day and Windows Update is now operating normally, but a few customers have continued to report issues connecting to the Windows Update service. We expect these issues will go away as downstream DNS servers are updated with the corrected Windows Update DNS entries.

As per the latest update, it seems the issue was fixed, but there are some people who still got the above error.

So, if you are the one, then follow the below steps..
