When this page was written, Atlas was the most interesting browser launch in years. It did not last. OpenAI retired it on August 9, 2026 and moved the parts people actually used into products it already maintains. A browser needs constant security patching, and a discontinued one only gets riskier with time, so this is one app worth removing rather than ignoring.

1. Agent Mode now lives in the ChatGPT desktop app, the ChatGPT extension for Chrome, and Codex. If agent browsing was why you used Atlas, the Chrome extension is the closest match.
2. Your bookmarks did not move across automatically. While Atlas still ran, they could be exported to Chrome; if the app no longer opens for you, they only exist in its local files.
3. Your passwords and cookies could be moved to the ChatGPT desktop app before the cutoff. If you skipped that step, sign in fresh wherever you need to and save the logins in your current password manager.
